Luxury hotel for long weekend

Fly from IAD to SFO, rent a car, drive to and stay at the Alila Napa Valley (if you’re a Hyatt person), and reserve (far in advance) a table for two at the French Laundry. If you’re not wed to Hyatt, consider also staying at Auberge du Soleil or Bardessono; the latter is within walking distance of French Laundry.

Twin Farms in Vermont would be nice, especially in October.

Ritz Reserve in San Juan. Or the Ocean Club in Nashua. Both are an easy nonstop flight.

Primland in the fall?

There's also Blackberry Mountain. We LOVED Blackberry Farm. Amazing trip.

Sea Island

Longer flight, but Montage Laguna Beach is also a nice option.

Montage Bluffton would be my choice over both these for a long weekend.

I went to Primland for a work meeting. It didn’t seem very luxurious. But that was in 2016. Has it changed?

No people love it, I don’t get it. It is ok not great by any means.

Montage Kapalua Bay, right before rainy season. Won’t be as crowded.

Er, oops, guess I ignored the “short flight” bit. Still would recommend, it’s worth the travel!

Amangiri is very cool and October or May is ideal time to go. Wouldn't go in the summer - way too hot. Only thing is food was just so so. Room was luxurious, service great, spa very good, interesting activities and setting. Just surprised by food and only served in one big open space.

Blackberry Farm on the other hand, is ALL about the food. Excellent. Setting is pretty ordinary though.

Consider Amanyara if you like beach trips - great Aman experience, delicious food and easy to get to from DC.
