boarding my unspayed female

I don't think a house sitter would do an active little puppy justice, honestly. And would never kennel a pup that young.

Thanks. Where did you board? We don't do anything that active with her though, so how is the sitter different? Just curious like what do you do with your puppy? Or what should be done with them?

And when may we leave?

Any trainer worth a dollar knows how to monitor interaction and won’t be letting your dog loose with multiple others unless they are watching. It’s going to be okay. Send her and enjoy your trip.

(For the record, I’m a trainer, my puppy will be almost exactly 4 months when we go on vacation in July, and I’m boarding her with another trainer who has 3 (intact) dogs and 2 cats and it will be fine!)

Also is this trainer home the whole time or going to be training other dogs? Is it a friend of yours? Just curious why you chose this route vs others. Will your dog be fully vaccinated?

Exposure to other animals at this stage is crucial! I wish we had our puppy around cats more because now she acts psychotic when she sees one on our walk. This is a great socialization opportunity for your dog and with someone experienced. The puppy will have a blast so enjoy yourself.

No I totally get that and agree. She's been having tons of play dates with other dogs big and small. Since she was 9 weeks. Like outside for 20-30 min. What I'm wondering is if it's crucial this 5 day period while we are away lol. The trainer is experienced and great but is also going to be out training dogs some of the time. And not sure if she really needs 5 dogs and 4 cats for her first time boarding vs just a chill family and we resume animal exposure upon our return.

Does a 4.5 month old puppy need to be supervised 24/7 inside?

Yes. Puppies that age are tornados of chaos and destruction.

Not home the whole time (she works out of the house). Yes, a friend. No, my dog will not be fully vaccinated yet.

I chose it because I trust her to treat my dog like her own and put solid foundation work on her.

Thanks. So who is with the dogs when she is working? Just curious how this all works with such a young puppy.
