Yes, because only people being paid off by the police union could possibly want to have SROs at schools to help keep the peace...

Nope. The people who know how bad the gun violence is among teens right now.

Uvalde had an entire school police force and it didn’t help. The Parkland school police officer ran away. I support SROs but they are not for protecting against attacks on schools.

I should also note that a previous post of mine about the need to bring back SROs was deleted from this thread. Censorship at its finest!

They need more training. It really comes down to that.

Some of us are interested in learning more about what happened today at Blair. Which is the topic of this thread. If you have nothing to add about this topic, you are welcome to start your own thread for another topic.

This. What is MCPS doing to address violence in schools? Assaulting a teacher?!

Yes, maybe more SEL training would help. It's been a hard year especially for the kids who were neglected during the height of the pandemic.

The update sent at 4:13 doesn’t give very many details other than it was a “serious incident” outside on school grounds, and the students involved have been indentified and it is under investigation. That’s about it.

Hideous but not necessarily unexpected when it comes to Blair. It's just way too big.

While it doesn't say much that hasn't been mentioned, the HS newspaper, Silver Chips, has a well-written article on this. I expect that this (reliable) source might update the article as new information is available.

I don't know if a teacher was assaulted but there's nothing mentioned about this in this article.

None of this sounds like it had anything to do with Blair's size. Macgruder is roughly half the size of Blair, and it had a very serious incident involving a shooting in a school bathroom. IMHO, the scariest thing about these incidents is that they can happen anywhere.

I heard a female teacher was assaulted while trying to break up a fight.

That's one rumor that went through the student population. I don't know if it's more than a rumor, even if it happened, that's not why there was a lockdown.
