I LOVED my glider. You can get one second-hand or, as others have said, you can pick up an inexpensive one. |
I personally did not like the Shermag gliders that are available at Target and Babies R Us. They look and feel cheap. |
We got a Dutalier at Buy Buy Baby too and I hate it. It's not made well and from day one the cushion on the bottom slips. Try having to lift the back cushion with one hand, push the bottom cushion in with your knee all while holding a screaming, hungry baby with the other arm. It's terrible! We also got the footstool (paid extra to have the footrest in it for nursing) and NEVER USED IT. It's now taking up space in the corner of DD's room. I definitely wouldn't buy Dutalier again (although I know they're one of the only manufacturers out there) and definitely wouldn't buy the footstool.
All of that said, DD loves the glider. We sit in it every night and read books before bed (she's now 2). I think she's going to freak out when we move it out of her room when baby #2 gets here this fall. |
I don't know why your glider cushions are slipping. Mine do not slip-they fasten to the glider with snaps. |
We love our glider! In fact, the glider got moved to our bedroom and we bought a second one for the nursery! We didn't spend more than $200 on either one. We just got a storkcraft one that matched his nursery. |
We saved and bought a rocking chair that also reclines flat. It's been great. DD is 17 mo and I still occassionally fall asleep in her room if I have to get up in the middle of the night for her. |
I didn't think we needed one either, but we bought the Target model ($200 or less if I recall) and I LIVED in that chair! It was well worth the money. We're done with it now and gave it to my brother recently. As ugly as it was, I think I actually miss it! I'd definitely get one, but don't spend a lot. |
well my 3yo DD was sick last night and we spent quite a bit of time rocking in our chair last night - it's so nice & cushy - and I was so glad to have a comfy spot to hold her in... |
LOVE my glider. LOVE it. |
I really really really wanted one, and I got it. I hardly use it, and now it collects my clothes. |
I loved my glider so much with DC #1 that we bought a second off craigslist for DC #2. We currently have one in each child's room. The first two could only get drowsy rocking in the glider. Now we have DC #3, who is not a glider addict, but I literally spent half of DC #3's first four months sitting/nursing/sleeping in that glider! Get one! |
We bought ours - a Best chair - from a children's furnishings store out in Centreville. It was a glider and recliner. Best purchase - and it is great b/c it isn't giant like those humongous La-Z-Boy recliners - it's more reasonably sized (read: smaller) than those - fit me much better. Great for BFing. Good luck! |
We have an old school wooden one with ottoman and really did not use it much. I think if we had an uphulstered (sp?) one that reclined that we would have used it more. But at the time, we could not justify the cost and did not know if we had the space for it. |
Yes! Wish I had one for upstairs and downstairs! |
I was skeptical of the glider craze when I was pregnant and am so glad we splurged on one. It was our biggest baby expense and worth every penny, especially since DS would only nap in my lap for the first 5 months of his life. |
