It was not a parent. It was an older sibling. |

+2 This is such a disaster. |
We’re they arrested for having a gun on school grounds, destruction of property? |
This is the Republican plan — arm everyone. |
The TJ principal has not confirmed anything about there being a person with a gun. I work at Fleet and our principals had a meeting. FWIW one of those doors was broken earlier in the year as well. |
The Washington post article says differently: “ A family member possibly concerned about a lockdown at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Arlington, Va., brought a firearm when coming to pick up their student Friday, according to the school’s principal, Keisha Boggan.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/06/10/arlington-school-lockdown-family-gun/ |
And it says this as well:
”The family member damaged a door while attempting to enter the school, Boggan wrote in an email to Thomas Jefferson families.“ |
Ugh. I was hoping it was an unfortunate rumor. Thanks for the update. |
ArlNow, although a blog, does not routinely post rumors. |
Couldn't agree more. Starting with taking this parent's guns away. |
Yup- They really just want to live in a war movie. I didn’t realize how pervasive it was until the Texas shootings followed by the hearings about Jan 6. But truly, they want us all armed and want to live in a war movie….. Life imitating art. Thanks Hollywood. |
ArlNow posts a lot of nonsense about APS. |
I can absolutely see how this happened. When schools go on lockdown, there needs to be more communication about what’s going on. If you lock down a middle school because of criminal activity at a business nearby, tell the students and teachers that’s what’s going on, otherwise they will assume it’s an active shooter inside their school. |
Encapsulates it well. |
