A friend of mine just got diagnosed with celiac and went through a "find the GF bread" phase. She settled on Happy Campers (mentioned above). She orders it from Amazon and then just keeps it in the freezer to use as needed.
We like Trader Joe's the best too, for bread and bagels. Don't like their buns - I find the Udi's tastier there, if I toast and apply butter, haha. (They are all kinda gross.) Udi's bread always seems to have holes in it. Canyon Bakehouse is good. It's all probably garbage, but it's good enough to eat once in a while! Not much different from regular white bread. |
Whole foods 365 isn't bad, definitely better than Canyon which is truly awful.
I think Rise makes sandwich bread.
Rise does make a good sandwich bread. I use that Canyon Bakehouse or BFree. The BFree is the only GF bread that is a decent sized slice.
OP here -- thanks everyone! DH went to the store with this list and came back with Canyon Bakehouse Hawaiian. We'll start there, but maybe try some of the others, too, if it doesn't fly.
I like Udi's with a BLUE package. I also like their hamburger buns. I eat Turkey sandwiches with Udi's white bread. The portions are tiny. I.always toast the sandwiches and broil the hamburger buns. I like to eat frozen burgers too with the buns. It's delicious and easy!
I think Ezekiel bread is GF
Pretty sure that’s actually spelt, which is not at all gluten-free. Another vote for canyon bakehouse as the best texture. Their heritage loaves are even normal bread size. |
Moms Organic Market has a lot.
