Why do daily room inspections happen at some boarding schools?

Do you even read what you cite? You state never occurred at a private school. While what you post notes 6% occurred at private schools. And the PP stated that dorm inspections find weapons before an incident. Waiting for data on that statement.

Nope - 6% school shootings which includes personal altercations. MASS shootings like what happened at Virginia Tech, Uvalde, Stoneman Douglas and Sandy Hook is unheard of.

Former boarding school teacher here. Room inspection does not involve going through kids stuff and invading their privacy. It is not to search for drugs. I think random drugs searches like that are probably illegal. It honestly is for sanitary living conditions and to avoid roommate conflict over mess. If a kid is leaving out drugs and and alcohol and it’s in the open and found, that’s on them for being an idiot.

Yup. I went to boarding school. No one ever opened my drawers, my closet, or looked under my mattress. I could have hid anything. And yes, plenty of drugs and alcohol in boarding school…just like all high schools. Room inspection is a way for someone in the dorm to lay eyes on the kids in their own rooms, and ensure a routine of being tidy so no one lives in a pig sty.

Yes we had daily inspections and the criteria was that bed was made and nothing was on the floor. My daughter in boarding school doesn’t have them. Thankfully her roommate is neat which has motivated her to be somewhat so.
