| OP, whatever you do - buy a bigger tent than you think you need. We got a nice 4 person tent from REI and it's a tight fit for just me and my two kids. If my wife came we'd have to buy a second tent. If you need room for a family of 4 plus a dog I would be looking at tents that claim to be for 8 people minimum, ideally 9 or 10. They just consider room for sleeping bags and not room to move around without stepping on bags or storing any gear inside. |

Coleman makes a couple of different (3 season) 8 person tents that you can find on Amazon for under $200, with thousands of good reviews. For example

We are a family of four with a medium size dog and have plenty of room in a six person tent. We tend to keep a lot of gear in our car, but it would definitely fit in the tent as well. We love the REI kingdom/wonderland tent. |
| Does anyone have a car roof pop-up tent that they would recommend? |
Basic state campgrounds. We’ve never had an issue. |

I have the Core tent that someone else’s suggested and we LOVE it. We are a family of 4, so it’s plenty large enough for us.
The kids share a “room” we get a room, and the gear goes in the other room. It’s SOOO easy to put it. I put the tent up by myself woth my two small kids. I can’t recommend this tent enough. |
