Kindergarten girl clothes

Just don't buy too much of any one thing-for example, in K my daughter only wanted to wear dresses so I bought her a ton in a size she could likely get 2 years of wear from. Fast forward a year and she refused to wear a dress at all. And her color preference has changed dramatically as well!

My K DD is very picky with clothes. She will not where what she does not like. She picks what's wants online. We shop at Boden, Sparkle in Pink, Target, Hannah Anderson and Gymboree. She is obsessed with Crocs and wants all the prints and jibbitz.

Our daughter is almost done with K and wore mostly target, children's place, and old navy. She had no brand consciousness but would mention when other kids had the same things she did (seems like lots of other kids wore cat and jack stuff).

Now at the end of K she is a bit more conscious about what others where but more about type of clothes versus brand. For example she was very concerned about whether other kids would wear shorts to school once the weather got hotter.

I don't understand the bolded, why wouldn't it?

Same stuff as at daycare: gap, zara, carters, old navy

For what it's worth, my twin girls are at the tail end of 2nd grade and they still don't care.

My daughter is in 4th grade and plenty of kids still don't care.

Do you think other 5 yr olds care what your daughter wears to school? They dont

They do but not in the sense of what brand they are wearing. My kindergartener tells who wears Elsa dress or a tutu. My kid wears Hanna Andersson, Boden, Cat and Jack, H&M. I do notice at pick up who wears Boden but generally I would say most kids don’t wear high end brand to school.

Maybe my K kid is an outlier but she and her friends definitely pay attention to and care about what everyone wears. Not about brands (they don’t know) but definitely specific items. They will ask us parents for specific things because so-and-so at school wore it so now they want it.

Ironically, our school has a uniform code and I actually think that’s what causes all this comparison. If they were wearing regular clothes, I think they’d all just dress more or less in what inherently appealed to them/what parents can afford. But since they are all wearing very similar clothes, they really notice when donne one has a shirt with a ruffled collared or cool new shoes (their shoes can be whatever as long as they aren’t hard soled or open toe). So one kid will show up in new purple sneakers and all the kids will be obsessed.

If you can’t tell, I hate our school’s uniform policy. I really wish the kids could just wear normal clothes.

OMG, YOU notice, the adult. Kids don't care, they just want to be comfortable and wear something they like.

That's not a true uniform. With identical clothes, there's none of that nonsense.

Kids start to notice around 3rd grade, but for K, yes, the adults notice. Parents, teachers, admin, etc etc will notice who is well dressed and who is not, and treat them accordingly. Sucks but true.
