| Daughter starts K in the fall. Where do you get your kindergarteners school clothes? Is Target acceptable (what she wears mostly now) ? Or do kids start to be more conscious of what’s ‘cool’ in K? |
| Same places she got her preschool clothes. Jcrew, Gap, Zara, Amazon, etc. |
| Carters |
| My soon-to-be 6 year old isn't conscious about what other kids are wearing yet. I think maybe 2nd or 3rd grade they start to care. |
| In K both my kids only cared that their clothes were not itchy. We tended towards buying inexpensive brands because they still get food, fingerpaint, etc. on their clothes at that age. |
| My DD is in K now. She doesn't seem to pay any attention to what others are wearing, but she loves clothes and does have a preference for wearing certain types of clothes and certain colors. For example, she loves dresses but doesn't have any clue whether they come from Target or Tea. We don't dress her in anything too fussy or nice for school. She loves to run and climb at recess and she often comes home with all sorts of things on her clothings. |
| Target, Primary, Old Navy, Boden, H&M |
For what it's worth, my twin girls are at the tail end of 2nd grade and they still don't care.

You buy clothes that are comfortable in - you are comfortable with getting ruined - they can get in and out of easily and independently.
I typically find these at Target, Carters, Osh Kosh, Old Navy / Gap. |
My third grader doesn't care either. I'm not sure she even knows that brands exist. (She does absolutely care that clothes aren't itchy or uncomfortable.) |
| My has random preference in K but I don't think they have anything to do with others opinions or what others wear. As a few have said, she does want to pick the color and style (dresses as much as possible), but I just try to ensure its something she can wear on the playground or for PE without too much hassle. |
| I have a third grader who still doesn't care - one time she asked me for ripped jeans and another time for a tie-dyed shirt. She knows about brands because she knows what she wears (combination of Target brands, Old Navy, H&M, and Primary) but does not care about them. |
| My kindergarten girl mostly wears Boden (from Grandma) or Target (from us). She's got very strong opinions but they don't seem to be based at all on her peers. I feel like a lot of what she wears is a little younger than I see other kids in (very busy prints with lots of animals), but it's never come up; she likes ocean animals so she wears stuff with ocean animals all over it. |
Oh and I'll say the Boden stuff after knows the brand of because it comes in a box with the name on it. She'll always tell grownups the brand if they compliment her dresses (which honestly I find a little embarrassing), but I don't think she knows it as anything other than "where the clothes from Grandma come from" |
| My kids do not care about clothes. I do get my DS some shirts that show his interest (Lego, Pokemon, etc). He tends to shy and I think it's a good conversation starter. |
