I imagine the issue the EU has with admitting Turkey is not whether they are white enough but rather their religion. Just a guess.

More recently they've wanted a buffer with regard to all the refugees fleeing the middle east (mainly Syrians). If Turkey were a member there would be a stronger argument for spreading out all of the refugees that made it to Turkey among more of the other EU countries. Instead they'd rather keep that buffer and pay Turkey to handle those fleeing war.

The Turks have been a threat to Europe for almost a thousand years. They sided with the central powers in WWI, invaded the Europe before that before being kicked out and stomped by the Winged Hussars from Poland, mass killings of Turks and Greeks, assisted the Germans in WWII…they have no business in Europe

The Europeans paid major € to the Turks to keep ME refugees in Turkey. Turkey is now sending them back to their home areas, mainly in Syria and Iraq.
