Husband thinks I don’t know how to sell a car!

Apparently because her buyer is a used car dealer, not an end user.

I said fine, your bank is actually down the street from me and we can meet there prior to me signing over title and giving you the car. Buyer said no problem. I figured what could go wrong? We meet at bank, he hands me the check, I cash the check and voila. My husband thinks this is a bad idea.

Unless you walk into the bank with him and cash his check for CASH he can totally cancel/bounce it.

I am pretty sure they won’t give YOU thousands in cash for a check from him, it would still need to clear.

To be honest I’ve seen plenty of fake cashiers checks; I would go to the bank and have him draw a cashiers check from teller in your presence.

Meeting him at his bank with his check, cashing check right after he hands it to me and only then will I sign title and car over to him.

Check can still bounce. You know it doesn't clear instantly, right?

Omg wtf is wrong with people. When I said no again he asked me to deliver the car, which is a 4 hr round trip. I said no again. My husband was right. Selling a car and dealing with the people who obviously are in the used car business is a nightmare. No wonder carvana and carmax are doing great.

Yup, see, he's a fraud and you're dumb. Sell to carmax, you'll still get far more than you would have a year or two ago.

If you guys are literally at his bank, why doesn’t he just get out cash?

Because he’s a shady typical car salesman. He has been asking me for the most outlandish demands! First the personal check, now leave the sale amount blank on title, and then deliver it, which is a 4 hr round trip. Finally can I gift gift it to him? I thought gifting was only allowed between family members. My family name is Smith and his is Abulatkishshalimkubar.

We had a positive experience with Carvana. Not the friendliest for the in-person portion of the transaction, but we got a good price and it was easily done.

If his bank hands you cash, it’s cleared.
