Husband thinks I don’t know how to sell a car!

I’m selling my moms car tomorrow. The buyer has already seen it and we finally agreed on a price. I asked him how he plans on paying me and he said a personal check. I said fine, your bank is actually down the street from me and we can meet there prior to me signing over title and giving you the car. Buyer said no problem. I figured what could go wrong? We meet at bank, he hands me the check, I cash the check and voila. My husband thinks this is a bad idea.

nobody takes a personal check for a private sale car. maybe if you take it straight to his bank with him, but that is not the norm.

i think zelle would be best.

last car i sold, they brought a cashiers check for 80% and they brought 20% cash. we went to my bank and deposited the check and the cash cash they gave me.

Op here. Geez this is only getting better. The buyer now asks me to leave the sell price blank on the title! I said hell no that’s fraud! He says, well can you gift it to me? Omg wtf is wrong with people. When I said no again he asked me to deliver the car, which is a 4 hr round trip. I said no again. My husband was right. Selling a car and dealing with the people who obviously are in the used car business is a nightmare. No wonder carvana and carmax are doing great.

Because he’s a shady typical car salesman. He has been asking me for the most outlandish demands! First the personal check, now leave the sale amount blank on title, and then deliver it, which is a 4 hr round trip. Finally can I gift gift it to him? I thought gifting was only allowed between family members. My family name is Smith and his is Abulatkishshalimkubar.
