| Madeira has a reputation on DCUM as res Southern, but it really isn’t. Not as much as EHS or WFS. There are students from Southern VA and NC, but they are not a majority. |
Ah! The intolerant liberal is back! |
You shouldn’t go anywhere near Madeira, MAGA trash. |
+1. I also have a DD at Madeira and I have been pleasantly surprised by how liberal and "woke" the students are. |
Jealousy is unbecoming, PP. |
I'm getting confused here. Please help me DCUM: Is Madeira too MAGA or too Woke? Or is it just a place to ride horses? |
Jealous of Madeira students?!? Lol! I can think of at least a half dozen DC independent schools that I would strongly prefer that my daughter attend over Madeira. Madeira is so far down the list that it isn’t even a consideration. |
It is perfectly "woke". They screen out nut jobs like MAGA. Horses are not really a thing. |

They may not be oligarchs, but do keep in mind that many of the diplomats / academics / businesspeople from China are not really diplomats / academics / businesspeople...

There were a decent number of boarding school kids in my sorority at university - mostly from some schools in New Hampshire and neighboring states.
A number of them had parents in foreign service careers. One girl’s parents were nationally prominent journalists who travelled to war zones. One was the daughter of 2 doctors with erratic schedules. |
This article is irrelevant to the discussion. These girls are living here in the U.S without their families. OP specifically asked about "international boarders". |
As a side note the daughter of Drs was a full blown “Inventing Anna” type story. She had some psychiatric issues and would go one these manic benders where she would buy friends expensive gifts and make these crazy grand gestures. When she was initiated, “her parents” sent a HUGE Godiva chocolate tower to our sorority house - I say parents in quotes because a year or two later she had a breakdown and turns out she was broke. She was in inpatient psych for over a month and then quietly went “back East”. |
| When I was there decades ago, the international kids were from state department / foreign service families stationed abroad. A few were in the reverse with parents stationed in the US from another country ie IMF, World Bank, embassy in US, UN etc. Some were from families in executive positions in global positions where the parents were working in another country ie Middle East. |
Pretty sure horses are a thing. I've seen them. It's birds that aren't real. |
You’re very clever. |
