There were a decent number of boarding school kids in my sorority at university - mostly from some schools in New Hampshire and neighboring states. A number of them had parents in foreign service careers. One girl’s parents were nationally prominent journalists who travelled to war zones. One was the daughter of 2 doctors with erratic schedules.
As a side note the daughter of Drs was a full blown “Inventing Anna” type story. She had some psychiatric issues and would go one these manic benders where she would buy friends expensive gifts and make these crazy grand gestures. When she was initiated, “her parents” sent a HUGE Godiva chocolate tower to our sorority house - I say parents in quotes because a year or two later she had a breakdown and turns out she was broke. She was in inpatient psych for over a month and then quietly went “back East”.
