Turmeric is the bomb!

I tried it for inflammation but it gave me pretty bad heartburn.

I have not developed smoldering or multiple myeloma yet so I'd say it is helping.

Another MGUS person. I take 4000 mg per day (a massive dose). Recommended dose for Smoldering Myeloma is 8000 mg per day (a truly massive dose) to prevent Multiple Myeloma.

I may head back to Costco today, will probably go the capsule route and not the powder route. I can't think of what I would sprinkle the Turmeric in/on. I don't drink smoothies.

The casings around the capsules aren’t good for you. Go with the powder. Also- lead has been found in tumeric as filler so maybe get organic?

Additionally, there's a video of him discussing whether to take it with black pepper (piperine) or not. He shows video from another doctor that says do not do that.

Just a pinch in milk or a curry. We always took it with black pepper in milk for a sore throat.

It is my cure-all spice. It does not cause kidney stones. However, there is a proper Ayurvedic way of taking turmeric - mainly in warm milk or in warm ghee. It needs the carrier molecules of calcium, D3 and other trace minerals in milk to be bioavailable, and it needs the fat since it is fat soluble. Turmeric is not to exceed more than 1 tsp a day per person orally. You will end up impacting your BP adversely otherwise.

OP here. Wow this is so interesting! Thank you for explaining this. Interestingly I have been taking my Turmeric supplements (two capsules) with my D3, K2, and Omega - with dinner. I don't drink milk, just don't like it. I do like oat milk though, the one I use has some fat in it. I'll try that!

If you want the actual turmeric raw they are available at Korean Grocery Store and its not expensive. The frozen aisle at the Indian Grocery store sometimes have them as well. I'll get dinged for saying this: I'm a believer that raw form is the safest and your body stops you before you over eat it.

I make a cup of Green Tea (from Costco) every morning, I add a few shakes of Turmeric, several grinds of black pepper, a few shakes of cayenne pepper, a few shakes of Thyme, and a few shakes of Ginger. I have that every morning. Apparently, ginger is also a very good anti-inflammatory. Pepper helps the body absorb the turmeric. Spices are from Costco as well. I add garlic powder and black pepper to my eggs. I add cinnamon to my protein shakes. In the past, I have also added turmeric to my scrambled eggs. Haven't done that recently though. I thought it was delicious. Trader Joe's turmeric and ginger tea is very good. I add black pepper to it.

I tried capsules for a year and had no improvement in joint pain or inflammation whatsoever.

Too much turmeric can be harmful to the kidneys.

Can you summarize

I was always told to add a pinch a black pepper to activate the turmeric. This is really common in Jamaican recipes.

This.

I sprinkle it on foods (almost all of which have a bit of butter in them) all the time.

Turmeric/curcumin also helps with cancer -- look it up! I have a friend who is in a clinical trial for her cancer and they are giving her curcumin. And anecdotally, my relatives in India literally eat food with turmeric every single day, and I've never had a relative die from cancer.

I recomme Theracumin for bioavailability. Longvida crosses the blood brain barrier
