Anytime anyone anywhere got a blood test for something, the government had the lap also test for Covid too. And yes they can tell the difference between getting Covid and being vaccinated

Yes, they can tell the difference.

Are you saying 75% of kids had a blood draw in the last six months? Have yours?

No, but my kids did have covid, which we reported to the school and the state.

Do you not understand the concept of data?

Closing schools for a year accomplished literally nothing in terms of preventing people from getting coronavirus.

This. I kind of want to cry that people don't understand how the process works.

Our kids haven't tested positive, but there's an excellent chance they've had it. They were in in-person care from September 2020, went to camps, etc. I think we also need to remember that this number indicates how truly mild (to the point of being asymptomatic) COVID is in the overwhelming majority of kids.

I guess we are atypical then because, as of ten days ago when we all had to get blood work done, none of us had had COVID.

Did you get covid antibodies done with your bloodwork that you saw results to? Because if youre vaccinated you wont be able to tell.

From NBC News:

In the study, the CDC examined blood samples taken from all age groups, testing for specific antibodies that develop only after Covid infection.

"This study was only looking at the presence of antibodies from prior infection and did not detect antibodies from prior vaccination or boosting," Dr. Kristie Clarke, a medical epidemiologist at the CDC focused on pediatric health, said at a briefing Tuesday. Clarke is the lead author of the new report.

This. And it was so predictable.

Closing schools has to be one of the worst public policy decisions of my lifetime. Such a massive and colossally stupid waste.

My daughter definitely had it. Positive PCR. only symptom was runny nose which I wouldn’t normally have tested for but we’d had a known exposure. My son, on the other hand, has never tested positive but had 20+ runny noses this year so could one of those have been Covid? Absolutely

Yes, we did and yes, you can tell.

Anonymous wrote:I think it may be lower than the 75% in our area because people here were generally more cautious. I also think that is why DC is having more cases than many other places in the country - we are playing catch-up. 50% of one kid’s class has had it already. 30% of the other kid’s class. There definitely could be some that had it on top of that who were never tested.

This is not true. They did a DC-specific model and the estimate was higher, at 80%

Very possible your kids had it and never even knew.

+1. Please make sure you don't vote for Robert White for mayor, who was the king of keeping schools closed.

This thread is showing me we need a basic data science course and statistics course as a requirement to graduate high school in this country. Every population statistic is based off a sample.

Why do we still have indoor masking if almost everyone has already gotten Covid?

DCPS doesn’t have indoor masking
