Birkenstocks

Welcome to the 988th thing on women's list when evaluating suitable partners. How come men aren't this picky and neurotic?

Birkenstocks are very likely the most recommended footwear by podiatrists worldwide. Wearing them screams intelligence, forget what idiots say about the styles. Wear Birks as much as you can to avoid foot issues in later life - that’s what our family podiatric surgeon told me, anyway. After he removed a couple of hammer toes and bunions from my grandmother’s feet, that is.

Since time immemorial, beauty has been a source of human happiness. I'm not advocating, say, foot binding-level of torture to achieve beauty, but pretending beauty is irrelevant to a fulfilling life is sad.

Actually intelligence has been a way more important source of happiness. Without it, we'd all be beautiful and dead by 40.

Either gender can wear them. They are very comfortable.

I have a genius IQ, and successful in a profession that depends on that, and yet can't think of a single way in which my IQ has contributed to my happiness. Quite the opposite, in fact. I'd say there's an optimal IQ level, it's substantially below genius, and above that it has negative effects on happiness and fulfillment.

I picked my dh because he wore Birkenstocks and encouraged me to wear comfortable shoes, among many other reasons.

20 years later, my feet thank him and we are still together.

Yes! And I wanted to stomp on their feet with my Doc for ruining my goth day.

The right man can definitely pull them off.

Perhaps that's your case but your IQ still probably contributes to the species' overall success. My IQ test score is 136 in English (I'm not a native speaker) and yet I'm not unhappy, quite the opposite, I'm thrilled with every single day on this earth. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, I do. Much better than clunky running shoes. Birks let the feet and toes breathe.

The secret to Birkenstocks is amazing foot hygiene, regular pedicures, and replacing sandals every 2-3 years. Just because you can go without cleaning your feet daily, regular foot/nail care maintenance or updating sandals every 2-3 years, does not mean this is a good look. Details matter when you are trying to pull off a basic/classic/natural look!
