PP - wonderful post. Thanks for reminding everyone to keep a balanced perspective and realistic expectations.

As PP mentioned, there have been drug od's, alcohol abuse, violence and cheating scandals at the public high schools recently as well.

Yes, I am preternaturally connected.

OP here. Not a troll, not deplorable, not naive enough to think that having money means someone is automatically bad or shallow, or that not having it is somehow morally superior. Just making the obvious point that some people and some schools are more progressive than others and will transmit different values and attitudes as a result.

10:45 articulated that far better than I.

I don't even understand OP. Is it some kind of veiled stab at single sex schools? Is she saying privilege is good or bad? I mean, I'm trying to decide what distinction there is between the schools on and off her list. And what her point is. (Is athletic success good or bad? Academic success?)

I am a progressive person (ideologically) who sends my children to traditional schools because their approach to education is the best fit for my kids. My kids are good people, if I don't say so myself, because of the way my husband and I have tried to raise them, not because they did or didn't go to a traditional or progressive school.

This is the silliest thing i've ever heard.

15:11 -- I read OP's post as a cheap and silly way to try to lump in Burke and Field with the more elite schools at the expense of a murder victim.

Trust me, the Burke and Field communities are perfectly happy with where they stand in successfully educating children and have no desire to be lumped in with the "elite" schools.
