I recently dropped my covid 15 by convincing myself that the nagging hungry feeling is actually my body burning calories so I made sure to feel that sensation every day. Just my own form of rewriting my reality.

Rename the sensation: Hunger pangs=>calorie burn

I’m going to use this myself. Thank you! (Not OP)

Lemon water, meditation, brisk walk - create a ”tool kit”

Eat whenever you’re hungry, but only what is healthy. Often I’ll think, “I’m starving a need to grab some chips, cookies, candy, etc.” If I offer myself the choice of eating a can of green beans, a bowl of plain broccoli, maybe some plain chicken breast, etc., I generally decide I’m not that hungry after all. If I do opt for eating the healthy choice, I realize I was actually experiencing hunger, but I haven’t ruined my diet, I’ve given my body the nutrition it needed.

Slow and steady is the key. Make sure your calorie deficit isn’t too large. Unless you’re very short make sure you’re still getting at least 1500 calories in.

Ghrelin be a biatch, no? SO, you trained you body to crave food at certain times. You are not actually hungry that much, but your brain sends the signals that you are. Do a whole day fast, so, don't have breakfast and do not eat until dinner for a day. The repeat for a week on alternate days.
You will kill the hunger pangs after two days of this, not kidding. So, if you start on Monday, by Thursday, you will no longer have these pangs.

Hard boiled eggs, pickled, air popped popcorn. Give yourself permission to eat some things when you're actually hungry.

IF doesn't work for everyone. Some of us do need to eat in order to avoid feeling faint.

The issue in the very near term is as I implement a sensible eating plan is I am fighting actual hunger pains and I wonder does my body just need to adjust. For example, today I had turkey on wheat with LTO and carrots and hummus for lunch. I got hungry at 3:30 and ate an apple and drank 16 ounces of water. I am still hungry and waiting for dinner time.

I realize this effort will never succeed if this is my sustained situation. What are your tips? Better snacks? Better meal plan?

I do IF. I eat between 2pm and 7pm. It's sooo easy to make it to 2pm. Dieting otherwise is hard with hunger pangs, but I deal with morning hunger with black coffee. Like it's 11am right now and I'm a bit hungry but I'm just going to keep working until 2pm. Having a strict time helps.

Oh wow, guys/gals. Good luck keeping that weight off in the long run if these are your "tools" for handling hunger.

Best advice you will ever get: EAT when you feel hungry.
