Top schools: Michigan State, Oberlin, CU Boulder
Chose CU Boulder for the lifestyle |
Congrats!! My friend went there. Loved it. Such a good program. |
| Emory, CMU, UVA and W&M. Chose W&M. Biology, not pre-professional. |
| CNU, Elon, JMU, UMW. Chose CNU for cyber security major and national security minor. Plans to play in symphony. |
| Full ride at state school, half tuition at expensive T50, full pay at low cost state flagship with highly selective honors program, half tuition at a T20, full pay at Amherst, full pay at U Chicago. It looks like half tuition T20 is going to be a winner as she is an analytical person who is likely to go for best value not the cheapest or fanciest. |
| Great options. Congrats to your DC. She made a great list and reaped the rewards. |

UVA, W&M, Georgetown, UF, Vanderbilt
Most likely Georgetown |
| UVA, W&M, Kenyon -- chose W&M |

Michigan State CS (with about 50% merit aid), Purdue CS, and wait listed at Indiana (got into the college, but not the music school yet.)
He's still waffling. Looks like he'll probably commit to MSU but if he comes off the wait list at IU, I'd put my money on that. |
| The music school at IU is elite. I hope he gets in! |
| I think DC is down to UVA vs UMich (both OOS). I don't know where she'll end up, but I'm secretly hoping for UVA since it's closer and I'd personally rather visit C'ville than AA. |
Rice, UVA (the final choices) Chose Rice |
Thanks! We haven't been able to find much information on whether/how much the wait list there moves. I told him to just plan on not getting in and, if he gets moved off the wait list and wants to go there, we can eat the deposit on whichever of Purdue or MSU he chooses. (I did remind him to go ahead and decline those places where he was sure he didn't want to go. Being on the wait list himself, it's probably good for him to be mindful of the kids on the wait lists at the colleges where he knows he doesn't want to go.) |
Curious why you named U Chicago and Amherst but none of the other schools? Why not name the state school, T50, low cost state flagship and the T20? Why not name the school she committed to since that was the OP's question. Clearly, you don't have to name them but I'm curious why you chose to specifically name two but not the others. |
| I've got two going through the process. My daughter was choosing between WashU and UNC and will be going to WashU (applied to fashion design at WUSTL and undecided at UNC). My son was choosing between UMd and Northeastern for CS and chose NEU. |
