Serving burgers at a party

Seems strange. Where would you find someone to hire to grill burgers and have it not seem weird if you have no other "help" at the party?

A caterer can provide anything you like depending on your budget. They can help with quantity too.

Recruit a family member -- hey Uncle Joe, can you man the grill at Logan's graduation party? Some people enjoy having something to do at a function like this, where they are an obligatory guest, but not exactly going to make hours of conversation with your DS' friends and family.

Absolutely do this. OR ask a friend. Or take the advice of the person who said to try a dry run/practice with just your family. Then you'll get an idea how to run things yourselves for future cookouts. You can do this without hiring someone. Totally honestly--I would find that super weird if you had some random hired guy doing your grill. Like, I would talk about it for days. And everyone I know absolutely hates the food truck at parties thing--there is always a line and people end up not eating at the same time and it really stops the flow of a party. People have been doing backyard cookouts for graduations for decades and decades. No one expects perfection. You can do it yourselves. Be fun. Err on the side of too much food and drink. Cooked burgers actually freeze great! And so do buns.

PP here - absolutely plan on 2 burgers for every person over the age of 12. Have vegetarian burgers already cooked in the oven--they often don't do well on the grill. The Nirvana burger from Trader Joe's is very good. Be ready to make half the burgers cheese burgers, with either cheddar or Swiss.

Why can't every person grill their own?

I agree with everything PP said. At our children's choir, the choral director always volunteers for grilling, because he's not that chatty. He's excellent with the choir, but not the small talk

Thank you for the reassurance that I don't need to pay someone to grill burgers for 25 people and the tips on the veggie burgers!

A whole line of people waiting to use the grill? I would not have a burger.

How does the food truck rental work? Do you pay a flat fee or do kids have to pay for what they order?

At most parties with barbecue, someone cooks all the burgers, people get them while they're hot and the rest sit on a platter. No one expects to be able to get a hot burger at any moment the entire party long. If you don't want to be cooking burgers, you probably also don't want to be managing food rotation, etc. Hire someone

Depends on the truck. Most require a minimum spend either way and its usually several hundred dollars. Would not be worth it for 25 people.

We’re one of the people having a food truck and I’d never make my guests pay for their food! We’re paying a flat hourly rate.

Can you order online some buffet type shit to keep the burgers warm and then put out all the toppings & condiments and let them serve themselves? Put some potato salad, pasta salad, etc. Done.

Hiring someone or asking random people to make burgers sounds stupid. You don't need a food truck for 20 freaking people. Don't waste the money.

Also, kids don't really care as long as you feed them.

Get some veggie and turkey burgers (keep separate from beef) for the guests that do not eat red meat so they don't have to eat cheese sandwiches on a bun.
