Language immersion programs/hear anything?

By that time, one has only a couple of weeks to visit the school (again -- yes, I went to the open house, but would not accept without asking more questions ...) And those who might get offered a spot after the initial round of accept/declines have little time to make a decision or visit school in session. Plus the kids have very little time to adjust to the change. My son has been asking questions for months about where he will be next fall, and we are only able to provide vague answers because we don't want him to get adjusted to the idea of his homeschool only to have that change (or vice versa).

For the immersion programs, the admissions decision mailing is so late, that parents either have to choose to skip kindergarten orientation at their home school or to send their child and then risk having to tell the child, "oops you're not going to that school after all."

What on earth are these people doing that they can't get their act together any earlier than mid-May?

I totally agree. For one thing, there may be siblings to consider. For another, some of us need to sign up for before/after care and not knowing where you're going until way after it's time to sign up for after care means you can get shut out of that also.

#134 and #7 here.

#7 sounds promising, but who knows. Anyone knows what far do they usually go?

7 is very promising. We were in the 20s last year and got in just after school started in the fall. Of course we thought we had no chance and had made other arrangements. When the slot opened up, we were very grateful. I know of people waitlisted under 10 who got in before the school year started. Best of luck.

Does it mean that a child waitlisted may be moved to the immersion program even if the new school year has already started?
Anonymous
Yes, I know of people who have moved their kid in November to the immersion program.

It would be interesting to parents who were waitlisted and then were later offered a spot. What number were you waitlisted for?

For anyone's benefit, our number were called in the middle of the first school week. It was Potomac E.
