Mini van or full size suv?

Exactly this. The minivan is much more practical and has more cargo space with use of all seats. The 3-row SUV is awesome for carpools and looking cool, but I cant fit anything in the back of my Highlander with the third row in use. Like nothing.

You're not looking cool in your Highlander or Passport compared to a minivan, GTFO.

Minivan, even with just two. It's so easy to carpool to activities with kids' friends. Invite kids' friends to go with you to the park. As the kids get older and into MS/HS before they can drive, there is just more and more activities and more and more stuff. Plus, once they are learning to drive, they don't want to drive the minivan.

It's the internalized misogyny but I'll never drive a minivan.

I don't get this at all. No one thinks you are COOLER because you drive a Pilot instead of an Odyssey. We can all see the car seats in the back and the swim team stickers all over it.

If what you need is a family car, it makes sense to GET A FAMILY CAR. If you need a cool car for sexy nights out, then get something else.

So wise. Minivan all day.

I think if you have 3+ kids minivan. If not it’s just preference. My aunts and myself are all 3s in a minivan. I have rented them and hate them though.

We have a Rav4, one kid, and a grandma in the house. If we are able to have another kid, we'll be upgrading to a Sienna and I will be soooo happy. Space! Storage! A shred of dignity for whichever adult doesn't ride shotgun! We went to the car show at the convention center a couple of months ago and I spent more time looking at the minivans than the concept cars.

Minivan. I love my SUV (3-row Volvo XC-90) but the 3rd row seating is practically useless, especially if you have car seats in the middle row. I frequently wish I had gone for a minivan, you just can't beat the practicality.

I dunno. My kids are almost in middle school and we never carpool and they play 3 sports but the equipment doesn’t take up much space. I’ve been driving this big dorky boat of a minivan for the last remaining years of my young adult life and I don’t know that it was necessary. You can bring whatever you want to a beach house — everything fits. Sleepaway camp drop off too. And you can pop visiting grandparents in the car, although this only happens for us a few times a year. But I won’t be buying another one after this. No offense to the car. It runs beautifully and is super reliable.

I'm a Cool Mom (as in I'm a former model and am currently at Coachella). I love my Chrysler plug-in hybrid minivan. Cool people don't care about what other people think about them. I care about my kids being happy.

Wrong type of cool. This is DC Urban Moms. Cool usually starts with "Deputy Undersecretary for..."

We went to a few places car shopping and ended up in Toyota, I wanted a Highlander with third row. It was horrible, maybe a kid could sit there for a bit, but a full size adult? Never even got a minute. My husband insisted I go check out the new Sienna…and the rest is history 🤣 I love my Sienna, that’s all I can say. It’s huge and so comfortable and fits everything! Electronic sliding door? How could I ever lived without them. Movable captain seats for the kids and a full third row. Super deep trunk. Got all-wheel drive, so even winter won’t stop me👍 Go test drive, you’ll see.

Your husband insisted… for your car? What does he drive.

How long are you keeping it? We got a pilot and once kids are off to college, we are getting a boat trailer and small camper trailer. Pilot can haul 5000 lbs. minivans only go to 3500

The van's still rockin' commercial for the Odyssey

Once the kids go, so does the van.
