sidwell's acceptances extremely impressive

This thread seems to have been started to counteract the negative Sidwell thread. Damage control?

Seriously, it's not. I'm a DCPS parent. Legitimately curious because I stumbled on that old thread and it would have you believe that the seniors are all going to third-rate colleges. The colleges listed on that instagram site are superb--a mix of top SLACs, state flagships, and excellent private universities.

I obviously can't speak to the comments on that thread about the caliber of the college counseling at SFS, but I don't think anyone who posted there should be anything but proud.

Oh, yeah. I'm an academic (so I know a think or two about higher ed).

Yeah real stressful being a rich kid going to college with no loans at Sidwell or GDS

Omg. Rich kids get into top universities and colleges? And water is wet.

Lol that you think vouchers make a dent in Sidwell tuition! And yes, I do think everyone at these schools is rich. All of their financial aid is token.

Geez, people. Leave OP alone. There was a long thread full of people moaning that Sidwell kids weren't getting into good college in the early rounds, and OP is just observing that in the end it looks like their college results were good. If this inspires your hostility, go take a nap or something.

OP here. You're on to me. I'm a member of the Sidwell's administration and I'm desperate to rehash the college admissions controversy on DCUM--it's such good PR for the school.

well, from a scientific perspective, that is not exactly accurate.

Doesn't matter where these kids go. They're so well prepared for the next step that they will be successful.

OP, you can't waltz in here and use words like "extremely impressive" when you're talking about schools. It's just not done and makes you look stupid. People have strong feelings about certain schools and colleges, and if you wish point out praiseworthy achievements, you've got to be convincingly factual and more specific. What kind of academic are you that you can't make that effort to look objective? The words you use are way too subjective - you look like the moronic realtors on the Real Estate forum that post about their listings in first-degree, glowing terms, while pretending to be buyers.

Again, you need numbers and match-school comparisons in order to conclude what you did. Otherwise it's just hot air and people are going to tear you apart.
