sidwell's acceptances extremely impressive

Anonymous
A few weeks ago there was a thread about how "disappointing" SFS's college acceptances were...well, if instagram is to be believed, SFS's class of 2022 is going to a very impressive bunch of schools. Granted, there are only about 30 or so seniors who have posted thus far, but suffice to say, the school (and these kids) should be proud.

Compared to what? Sidwell's last 5 years of college acceptances? Some other reputable local private?

You're hilarious.

Legacies, athletes in $$$$$ sports, and development kids. Zero FARMS kids.

Congrats?

Believe it or not, it's actually possible to simply be happy for people and congratulate them without doing a benchmark comparison.

It's also possible to let other people express positivity without trying to undermine it with sarcasm and bitterness.

But you do you.

Are you a SFS parent?

What are development kids?

What are development kids?
Wealthy parents who have been generous and could be big donors that the Development office wants to court.

No, I can't do that because I'm a scientist and value accurate wording. So if you said: "I'm impressed some kids I know got into X, Y and Z schools", that would be anecdotal and we would say "Great!".
But if you say, "Look at how well Sidwell did this year!", then the comparison with another year or another school is IMPLIED, and so... what are you comparing it to, OP?

Just word it better next time.

Of course. Incredible college prep is what they do. Add on legacy, $$$ spent on private coaching for a kids’ sport, enriching summer opportunities, internships via connections, and first gen FA kids, and it all adds up to impressive. They’ve been great at this for a long time. That thread was nuts.

Couldn't you have simply posted this in the existing thread rather than start a new one?

Oh, forums are going to be too stressful for you. Most of us are on our phones and that makes it even easier mess up from time to time. Precision and Internet forums don’t go together.

I'm always very impressed by the Sidwell grads list. And my kids are at Whitman. I literally have no axe to grind.

Congrats to all Sidwell seniors on their college acceptances. It is a stressful process. GDS acceptances are phenomenal as well.
