Luke or Luca (called Luc)

If you're American, give your child an American name.

Luke Piccata is fine.

"An American name"

I prefer Luca to Luke but only if you are going to call him Luca. If you are going to call him Luc (with a long u) then just name him Luke and keep it simple, especially if you have nothing against the name otherwise.

I just think Luca is a bit less expected and is more my style.

Luca is a super popular name for 5 and under right now, if that factors into your decision.

I love the name Luca.

But if I was going to call my kid something that sounds like Like I would go with Luke.

Agree. I'm not even "well traveled", but Luc is always Luke.

Don't underestimate the power of people to butcher any name.

I have a Luke but because of the Disney movie his big brother exclusively calls him Luca, so I now call him Luca, so the poor baby thinks his name is Luca.

This is to say, you can have both if you really want.

Another vote for Luke. Don't try to be trendy or worldly.

I know several boys named Luca. The moms all did study abroad in various European countries while in college and still talk about the trips constantly more than a decade later.

It is really a shame that name have to be dumbed down for Americans.
OP, give him the name you like the best.
