don’t forget the customized M&m’s in your DC’s colors.

If your kid is not one of those, they're going to be on the outs.

Interesting. That has always been a thing, I thought. Maybe it's a regional thing?

If they’re not interested in greek life, I don’t think they’ll care if they’re on the outs with those kids. It’s possible to have a socially rich and successful life at college without joining a fraternity or sorority. There’s a place for everyone.

I doubt they are “glam shots” whatever that is. They are probably private school kids - where they have the photographers take lots of different shots inside and out in various outfits and settings for every senior.

I'm the OP. Actually, some are glam/professional shots. And others are, and I know this will sound bad, but they are "look at me" shots. What I mean by that is that several of the students have posted rather revealing pics.

Maybe things have changed since I went to college, but a simple photo worked in the past for stuff. What I am seeing now is auditioning of sorts -- maybe for guys? But I would say that most of the pics on this social media site appear that way.

The phrase “college reveal” makes me feel queasy. Ick!

I think it is a regional thing. In my very middle class Wisconsin hometown, pretty much everyone gets "senior pictures" done (usually in the summer before senior year). 1-3 hour session in a few different locations with 1-3 outfits.

Oh no. Not the outs.

The “bed parties” are a NJ/NY show of wealth where friends are expected to buy merch and decorate their friends bed. Some do it for themselves or their kids as a photo op. It’s pretty gross.

Senior pictures are normal here in the dc area too.
I think OP is mostly taken aback by the bikini and club dress shots, and by the reveal/bed decoration parties…all of which leads me to believe that OP’s kid has chosen a school with a large percentage of kids from the northeast, and this kid is going to be in for a shock. Those girls have been partying in leather and lace since middle school, and they will run the social scene.

Yup with lines of coke and cloud of smoke trailing them. Giddy up OP your kid is heading to the jungle.

I think it may be the school. DD’s high school decisions Insta has some of these pics. Girls posing in basically bras to announce their college choice.
When I look at DD’s top choice LAC 2026 Insta, I see different photos. Selfies in front of mirrors, sundresses and pets, “me at an art museum” stuff. Cottage core, nose rings stuff. They list their favorite bands, their pronouns, their hobbies. Photos look like they were picked to be flattering or quirky, but none look professional.

Sometimes I wonder about this school for DD, but truly these are the exact types of photos she and her friends post, so this may be a better match than I realize.
