I was re-reading the La Leche League book recently, and it said "most breastfeeding mothers lose about a lb a month" - a month!! I don't know where this idea came from that breastfeeeding will make you lose all your "baby weight" within 2 weeks.
Also, you have that baby weight for breastfeeding! Why would nature design us to lose all that fat when the baby is 2 weeks old?
Hmm my experience was it did indeed melt the weight off. It was shocking. I gained 50 pounds in pregnancy and lost it all by 4 months postpartum. I did not diet, watch what I ate, or exercise. I just breastfed.
I think women who don’t lose the weight are eating more than the extra 500 calories you need to sustain breastfeeding.
