Who actually buys grocery store bread and why?

Beg to differ -- challah.

But if I did eat bread, I’d buy the best that I could find to suit the task. Often, for me, that would be that rye bread from Germany that looks like a brick, and they sell that at the grocery store.

It’s kind of sad when someone has to bolster their self worth not just by consumerism and denigrating strangers, but by focusing their shallow efforts on bread. I’m reminded here that one does not live by bread alone. OP, do you have any thoughts on jam, butter, or hummus that you’d like to share?

Yes, that bread is so flavorful! I love it with a little butter and cheese.

Are you the same poster who started a thread about all bbq being the same or that pizza tastes gross?

It’s bread. It’s just a serving platter for my peanut butter. And if I’m making grilled cheese, it has to be Sunbeam White Bread. We get fresh Italian bread once a week from a local Italian restaurant. $3.00 a loaf. It’s delicious. But I don’t use it for sandwiches.

Frozen bread is nasty! Also no bakery near me in NOVA sells a loaf for $5!! Its much more expensive.

You sound like my sister who can not imagine not going to the store everyday for food. My spices might not be fresh?!?. We manage to get by...

My 15 year old came over yesterday with three buddies from swim team after practice. I think I made 12-16 grilled cheese sandwiches for them with canned tomato soup. The $3 loafs of white bread and cheddar cheese from Costco was great.

Who even asks such a dumba$$ question.

You are in the tiny minority. Almost everyone buys grocery store bread unless they bake their own, or are carb free!

+1. Who doesn’t have 8$ to spend on a small loaf of artisanal bread!? Lots of people, OP. You know what’s even more “gross” than grocery store bread? Shaming people for buying the food they can afford.

I guess I can afford the bakery bread, but I’m good with grocery store bread, soooo…
I’m sure lots of people can afford it, but don’t care enough to do so.
Anyway, I think this is just a silly troll having fun with us.

God I hate this forum so much sometimes. Hate it.

The bread I buy costs $2.50. I can’t afford a $6-$8 loaf. Even if I could, the nearest bakery is 20 miles away.

I buy grocery store bread most of the time because I'm already there to buy other things. We have a Spring Mill Bread Co. near us, which is great. I try to give them some business 1-2x a month. But it's more convenient to just get the bread with everything else while I'm at Giant.

Mine comes twice a year from Europe. Fresh would be nice but frozen is not too bad either. No strange side taste whatsoever. Hard to find dark rye bread here.

Op you should not only be baking your own bread, but milling your own flour. Store bought flour is soooo gross.

We buy French bread 2 for $3 at Sams Club and freeze it. One I slice one I freeze whole. Makes the best French toast and bread pudding.
