Because robots prepared and packaged your food to go order?

I did not think the kitchen staff get tips...they are paid a full wage. It is the wait staff that gets tips right? That is my criteria..so I do not tip at Panera/Starbucks (or minimally) because they are not paid a servers wage.

I know hourly staff at places where their job is to literally serve you are so well paid. I can’t fathom why anyone would tip them.

Oh, please. I hope this is sarcasm. Does $12/hr pay the rent and feed the kids?
99.99% of us on DCUM can afford to tip.
Don't be cheap.

I never eat out and always tip 20-25% on takeout orders, just for good karma.

Someone packages the food you pick up at McDonalds and Chick-Fil-A... you tip there too?

Bucha Cheapos here. During covid I tipped 20% for take out for all except for pap johns type places. Definitely at a restaurant in my neighborhood that I would also sit down to eat at. You should be tipping 10% at the bare minimum.

Nope they make $18/hr. Restaurants servers make under $3/hour.

The OP is talking about places like Cava and Chipotle. I would think that their salaries are comparable to McDonald's and Chik-Fil-A. As a side note, I know one person who works at Chik-Fil-A, and they make $10 per hour (not $18).

They should quit and work elsewhere.

tipping culture has gotten out of hand....there are tip jars everywhere.

pay the servers a proper wage. and get rid of the tips.

Restaurant owners... I'm sure many of of us are willing to pay 15-20% more across the board for food and beverages. just get rid of the tips and pay your servers.

for those restaurants that have done this. Please remove the tip line from the credit card devices. don't try to double dip for your servers.

places that have tip jars sitting out....where you don't have servers. get rid of it.

If you feel the need to tip counter staff that earn minimum, do you tip the grocery check out clerk, the library desk staff, school bus driver? How do you decide?

Nope not tipping on pickup or anything anymore, after all the prices have gone up so high. In California now we have to pay extra fees for Uber eats ‘benefits’, gas surcharge, and driver fees. Sorry that can be their tip because I don’t even get benefits!!! Minimum wage here is over $15/hr so yeah I’m not tipping anything or anyone in California.
