Let Arlington go the way of the other progressive cities. They want nothing but dense high rises in single family neighborhoods so that they can pack in as many people as possible. I don't care because my family has property in Arlington and will only make more money as they bring more poor people into CAF housing. The tipping has already begun as the wealthy are moving their children from public schools to private schools and the middle class are stretching to do the same or moving children to Catholic schools. The 6,000 people who control the Arlington Democratic Party -- and by extension the County -- can deal with the masses of people and pat themselves on the back for making "Arlington for All." We just don't want to live with the "all."

You're really close to it. Just go on and say that word that you're really itching to say.

I’ll say it.

I live here so I don’t have to deal with the poor issues. Make sure the shelters are properly funded and keep everyone off the street. Rehab for people committing crimes, not catch and release or ignore. Don’t let them beg on street corners as it’s a safety issue.

Back here in reality, the Arlington County PD's budget went up this year.

Compensation and operational costs increase. The number of cops don’t. Nobody can hire. Especially in anti police climates.

You can’t force people into shelters. Why do you think we’ve historically forced them into jails? The bottom line is people want them out of sight.

SF, NYC have both become crime ridden dumps under these policies; you’d think the people here would have learned by example.

Sounds like you just aren’t a good fit for living in a diverse, vibrant city. Maybe you should live somewhere else. A place where people wear white robes and burn crosses might be more to your liking.

+1 this is just copaganda.

And also - since when do police actually investigate routine property crime? I've literally never heard of anyone ever having something stolen and having the cops do anything other than file a report.

If you feel less safe, please remember:

- you voted for this.

You voted for people who have defunded your police, and reduced your protection from violent predators.

Have you been downtown lately? It is filthy, smells like weed, urine, and feces why those responsible for the mess have ruined many public places. if that is your idea of a diverse, vibrant city, then I am staying in my little piece of upper NW.

Sounds like that PP doesn’t value diversity and vibrancy

.

And that’s the problem with the law. We SHOULD be able to force people into shelters. No one has an inherent right to live on public property

Not very familiar with the Constitution, I guess.

This is going to have backlash, the catch and release is already an issue. Crime is up. We get what we voted for…

They will still respond for violent crime and actual emergencies. Bit so much can be done on the phone. I am a Police dispatcher ( not Arlington) and worked yesterday. 2 people called because their unlocked cars were rifled thru overnight. They got an in person officer. Took 4 calls yesterday for hit and runs. No info on the other car, we don’t go out for those, insurance handles it. Maybe Arlington does go out but they’re stopping that. Took a call for a lost passport, sent an Officer but that be done on the phone, they just need a report number to apply for a new one. You get the gist………….

That diversity seems to be begging on every street corner and is definitely not making things more vibrant
