Agree- I am a lawyer + think it was crazy she went to jail. She was not even there when the guy killed himself. |
Wouldn't the prosecutors have had her original text to him too? It was so hard watching the scenes of him practicing to talk to his best friend at the party and how the interaction ended up going. |
There was a text of her telling a friend 4 months after his death “he called me and had stepped out of the car. I told him to get back in.” So she didn’t text it to him in the middle of the moment. She said it much later to someone else. |
| Are here fingernails part of this story? They keeping showing them and they are freaking me out. Looks painful! |
That makes sense, thanks. I missed out that it was a phone call with Conrad not a text. It seems like her lawyers could have sold that as another example of her dramatic storytelling, like when she claimed he was missing for three days before. |

The Hulu show is entertaining but I’m glad I watched the HBO documentary first. It was very well done and fills in many gaps that the Hulu show leaves open.
For instance, The “I Can’t Fight This Feeling” scene was over the top dramatic and would’ve been stupid were it not for me knowing the underlying context of Michelle’s “motives.” |
Disclosure: I haven't seen the documentary. I didn't think that scene was over the top, I thought it showed some insight on how her brain was working. Teenage girls are dramatic and she obviously was infatuated with the Glee storyline. |
Can't believe she's playing a mom! Looking forward to watch it. |
She's 47. Not that unbelievable that she'd play a mom. |
Yes, but the doc really shows you an inside glimpse into her whole psyche. Yes, she was obsessed with Glee but so were many teenage girls who didn’t quite have the same psychosis attached to their obsession |
?? Why not? |
Because she's been acting for so long? She was in Boys Don't Cry in 1999! |
| I'm disappointed in this show. Like many shows on TV, it is too many episodes. It's a 4 episode topic that they are turning into 8 or more. Now it's a chore to watch it. I don't think Elle Fanning is very good in it, but I like Conrad a lot and his mom. |
I agree it’s way too long. So many episodes when nothing much happens. They’re dragging it out. |

I watched the Dateline on this before the series. It was interesting what a drastic appearance change (face) takes place between the start of the trial and toward the end, makes me think she had an image consultant.
Also, I thought it was cool how they brought the texting relationship "to life" in the hulu series - in real life they only met in person twice or so, so the Director handled relationship building in an interesting way. |
