I see trolls are out in full force today.
We have a Hyundai Sonata getting close to 100k miles and it has never had any problems whatsoever. A dramatic improvement over our previous car (a ford focus that was constantly in the shop) |
|
We’ve had 2 Hyundai’s. A 2009 Santa Fe, and currently still have a 2013 Elantra GT.
The Santa Fe went 133k miles before we traded it, and was going strong. It had a very slight stuck-lifter noise at cold start up, but it went away after about 30 seconds. That was the only mechanical issue it had. The Elantra has 96k miles, and no issues except for a brake pedal sensor switch that just gave us some trouble the other day for the first time. Other than that one thing, 100% reliable. |

New Hyundai's run $50K+
Genesis runs $65K+ I hardly consider that "trashy" |
| My little Hyundai Accent looked (and felt in some ways) like a tin can, but it was reliable as rain and never gave us a moment's trouble. Great little car. I would buy another Hyundai, no question. |
| Love my Santa Fe! |
|
Hyundai has closed the quality gap that had previously existed between Hyundai and Honda/Toyota.
I traded in my VW (too many engine and electric problems) and purchased a new Hyundai a little over 2 years ago. I could not be happier. |
CVT’s and DI engines have become commonplace enough now to guarantee that all cars made today are all pretty much equally shitty. The days of decade old cars lasting 200,000 miles without an engine or transmission replacement are over forever. Now they’re all crap. |
I think Hyundai/Genesis has better design than toyota/Lexus. I am seriously considering to get Genesis sedan. |
I’d drive a 30 year old Lexus before I’d be caught dead in a brand new Hyundai. Or Genesis or whatever shiny badge they put on their crappy cars. |
|
We have an Ioniq and a Santa Fe and I love them both. You can get a lot more features at the same price point.
I got the Ioniq after my Honda Civic died at 90,000 miles - so in my experience the Hyndai is a whole lot more reliable, and also more comfortable to drive. |
Your loss. |
| We're looking into an IONIQ 5. |
They actually don’t suck anymore. |
Keep telling yourself that. We’ll keep tsk-tsk’ing you when we see you in it. |
