Thinking of blocking Fox News on parental controls on parents TV remote

Anonymous
I don't watch Fox and my two adult kids have similar political beliefs and opinions to mine but if one of them didn't and they tried this I would have a serious problem with it. I could easily reverse it though.

On the other hand, if your parents are into Fox then they are probably not bright enough to do anything about it.

Yeah, except that those networks aren't upsetting and devisive.

What point are you making? Does the news in general bother them? Is it dementia?

DP but CNN winds up my in-laws. I wish they’d stop watching it. And no they don’t have dementia.

Good idea OP. I would block all cable news channels while you are at it. It's like crack for old people.

Fox News is NOT news and that's the problem. Their mission is to spin opinions while making it look like news. It confuses people.

Yes, if you block Fox, block the even crazier ones, too.

If Fox, Oan and CNN etc. would just have a clear disclosure each time it airs that the programs are for entertainment not reliable news, not credible news it would be less harmful to people. Each should explain that the views and opinions are for entertainment not informational news purposes. If you want the latest news, go to the regular news.

I used to work at a law firm where one of the attorneys watched Fox News all day in his office. When he was out of town, one of the other attorneys turned on the parental controls and blocked it. It was hilarious watching him to try to figure out what happened to it.

I guess I'm glad that everyone in my family is too cheap to have cable TV.

It's obvious that humans evolved to have 30 minutes of local TV news and 30 minutes of national TV news to go along with their local paper. Anything more sends you around the bend.

+1. Might as well block all the news channels. CNN is completely anxiety inducing to my 70+ parents.

It's the morning shows too. I usually get a fearful phone call from Mom based off some segment on the Today show or GMA. News is all fearmongering with political commentary baked in.
