In DS’s case the regional Admissions Officer, who DS had reached out to to express his continued interest, called him on his cell phone. |
Yes, that's what happens with deposits when you cancel your commitment. |
In our case, we forfeited the enrollment deposit but got back the housing deposit. |
| Last year, DD was on the waitlist for several schools well into summer. It does inject a degree of uncertainty into the process for as long as they remain on them, so I don't necessarily recommend staying on lists. However, for DD we thought it would be preferable to have a difficult decision late in the process rather than wondering if she gave up too early. |
| DS was told July for the VT waitlist. When you register for classes, you need to pay tuition. I don't know when that usually is but July seems so late. We'll be out the deposit and housing at least if he gets off the WL. |
That is later than I expected! My son is also on VT waitlist. |
So ... how did it turn out? Did she end up getting off WL and attending one of those schools? |
| What about for UChicago WL? Does anyone have any experience how to go from WL to Accepted? Thanks. |
No, she didn't get off any waitlists (all very selective schools). Luckily she had a good option in hand, and she didn't let the uncertainty of the waitlists get in the way of her committing to that school psychologically. It originally wasn't her first choice, but over the course of the summer she got more attached to it (especially through getting to know other incoming students online) and went happily in the fall. |
