| When do the colleges/universities tell kids if they made it off the waitlist? Is the timing different for each school? |
| Different for every school. |
|
I wouldn't expect anything before May 1, which is when most colleges want a final commitment from the students that were accepted.
So many of the students I know are planning to visit campuses during spring break (mid April) before deciding, so will be waiting till the last minute to inform the schools. |
This is true in our house. DS has a top preference but wants to be sure, so we’re planning on 4 admitted student days over Spring Break. Parents of Juniors, this is something I didn’t plan on: revisiting during Senior Spring Break, at least not so many. |
| DS got odd the WL a few years ago and we got the call the day after deposits were due. That’s just one example. |
They call?? |
| We know someone who came off the UVA waitlist last week. The kid was also offered a merit award. |
Not possible. They don't finish the regular decisions until tomorrow, so they haven't even put anyone on the waitlist yet. |
Wow, that’s surprising given that RD isn’t even out yet. |
Well it happened. |
The student was deferred in EA. And it is a direct entry program, or whatever that is called, where the student applies to and is admitted to the major. |
Nope, you're either a troll or your friend lied. Not how UVa works |
Still nope. |
| Because decisions for coming off the waitlist for a school you want happen in May, after you have to commit to another school, do you just lose the deposit on the school you committed to? |
Deferred is not the same as the waitlist. |
