Yes, a cold is a reason to keep home and OP should get a covid test. |
I am not taking a COVID test every day during allergy season. I know what my symptoms are. If I have symptoms that are outside the norm, I will stay home and take a test. |
| Allergies are bad already this year. I stupidly didn't dig out my kids allergy meds in time this year and now the allergies are ahead of us. I also started with Clartin and it was helping much, so I switched to Zyrtec. Pedi had us switch. We usually try Clartin first because we have to giver Zyertec at night or it seems to make my DC sleepy. Also using Flonase sensi mist and kiddo was insisting on doing it herself and I don't think she was getting a full dose. So I've convince her to let me do it. Treats might have been invloved. Allergies are a pain and its like whack a mole sometimes. Also my kiddo is now sometimes taking her mask off even though i would prefer she keep it on for a bit longer and I think it might have helped with allergies. I did have her allergies documented with the school clinic. We got something from the pedi. |
Last year (in 2020), the masks seemed to help my kids with allergies. This year (2021), the mask at school seemed to make allergies worse. Both of my kids have stopped wearing masks and my kids are doing better (also taking zyrtec and flonase). |
Allergies are not a reason to keep a kid home. But a cold is. It feels like some people are so far along with this crusade of anti-masking, my-child-will-go-to-school-no-matter-what-ism that they've forgotten basic human decency. When you send your kid to school with a cold, other kids and teachers/staff can get sick. And it's not okay to do that to other people. |
According to that FCPS page that OP shared, it’s ok to go to school with a cold. |
