| My son had 2-4th percentile femurs that stressed me out my entire pregnancy bc they kept measuring them and they kept tracking so far below average. He was born totally healthy and perfectly normal and is now my tallest child of 4. I know it is hard not to worry, but keep the faith. Hang in there, Mama! |
Thank you! This is so reassuring

+10000 My "short limbed" baby was born at 38 weeks weighing 7lb3oz. He's now in the 80th percentile for height/weight at 7. |
| … or the baby could end up short and it’s not the end of the world. Fwiw, the most successful classmate I had in college is quite short (like 5’3”-5’4”). Always had a lot of confidence, now a top surgeon clearing a mil easy |
It's fine if he's short -- though all the men on my side of the family are super tall (and my partner isn't super tall, but he's 5'11) -- but just want to make sure it's not something like dwarfism or that his limbs are out of proportion compared to his body. |

Late term ultrasounds are notoriously inaccurate.
My own anecdote: I had one at 41 weeks to check fluid etc. Baby estimated to be 7-8 pounds. He was induced 6 days later....10lbs 3oz. |

The baby would also have an abnormally large head if that were the case. |
I had a difficult pregnancy after my anatomy scan, bc the baby measured short in her long bones, and her belly was disproportionally big.. i was sent to MFM, and had several follow-up scans... read tons of articles about it, there are over 400 skeletal dysplasia disorders and ever after birth is hard to determine the specific one... making it harder is that the measurements varied (percentile-wise) per week... her femur was around 9% percentile some weeks. my daughter is currently 2 years old and doing great, she's 33.5 inches, which is around 45% percentile in height |
| Weird thing to worry about. Children hit growth spurts at different times. DH and I are avg height. DCs were all long/tall babies. 1 is still tall compared to their peers, the other is avg height. |
She’s not worried about it, dumb dumb. They raised it after her ultrasound and of course she’s concerned. Don’t be dismissive if you can’t read. Weird thing to comment on without any comprehension of the question. |
| Honestly, ultrasounds are so inaccurate, I can't believe the Drs stress us out over them. I was told my first was measuring small bordering on IUGR - and he was born weighing 7lbs, 6oz. My second I was told he was big and I had gestational diabetes so they were considering inducing early. Born two days early at 7lbs, 4oz. They were 2lbs+ off on the estimates with both. Just silly. |
