If you’re venturing to other areas (you should!) Raku, It’s Japanese II on W76 is near the AMNH and it’s very good sushi.

When my DD (12) and I went to NYC, Yelp was very helpful. I could search for restaurants in our immediate vicinity and filter the results by type of food, etc.
We liked An’Nam on 48th for sushi/Asian, Lillie’s Victorian for brunch, and pizza at John’s of Times Square on W. 44th. Also, there was a grocery store on 8th Ave. near 48th that had decent breakfast sandwiches. Have fun. |
| Don't go to NYC and eat at The Smith -- you can go there in DC (but it is not great so I'd avoid even that). Go to Sugarfish if you like sushi. If Serendipity is back open, your kids will love it. |

Food around Times Square is going to be touristy crap.
You want to go downtown to Russ & Daughters. |
Are you kidding? NYC is a great place to visit with kids! When in NY in 2020 we went to Black tap. I didn't get any shakes but, they looked crazy! Funny I ordered a really good Turkey burger and didn't want the fries but, they refused to keep them off even though I was paying for them! https://blacktap.com/ |
sweetie you are full of shit |
| Jumping on this thread. We will be in NYC in 2 weeks and looking for a nice Japanese/sushi place with patio dining. Does not need to be kid friendly. |

We love Tim Ho Wan for dim sum (favorite of 6 year old). Plus it has the distinct honor of having a Michelin star but being not expensive. https://timhowanusa.com/ It’s in Hells Kitchen.
There are a lot of great Italian restaurants in Soho. You can just walk around and find one that is appealing. (Don’t go to Little Italy to eat! It’s cute but the restaurants are not good. Even 6 year old gives it a thumbs down.) I second the rec on Junior’s cheesecake. |
