17 month old peed in the potty.

I wouldn’t try now. Let her sit on the potty if she wants to and praise for any “activity” but wait until she’s a little older.

And yes, it’s really hard, if not impossible, to find good underwear for small and young toddlers.

Adding: encourage pooping however. Few 17 month olds have the ability to hold and release urine on request but lots have been poop trained at 17 months and younger.

Potty train, OP. My girls were reliably potty-trained by about 21-22 months. Meaning no diapers or pull ups ever. Dry all night. Very rare accident. My boys were closer to 3.

I swear there is a window of interest around 17 months. Go with it. I know my son was interested around that age, but it would have been a waste because there was no PT'ing in the room he was in at daycare.

People used to train their kids REALLY early.

DD is 21 months. She is very interested in the little potty I got at my baby shower.

It lives in the bathroom off my bedroom but shes taken in out into the room and loves to sit on it (not naked) and makes a "psss" noise to mimic peeing. I am pretty sure she understand what peeing is from being in the bathroom with me etc. but I doubt she connects it to sensations in her body.

If I wanted to take this to the next stage what would I do? Put her on potty in the AM before we go downstairs for breakfast? After nap? I could also move it 2 our 1st floor powder room; she spends most of her day downstairs.
