| I don't understand the Kodiak pancakes and greek yogurt - is the greek yogurt a topping? That sounds disgusting. |
| Stop trying to feed kids weird shi7. Give them cheese pizza, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, turkey & cheese (sandwiches or served separately with crackers, pancakes with whipped cream or maple syrup, ….. My kids aren’t even picky, but they wouldn’t eat yogurt on pancakes. |

Honestly, with kids that young I'd ask the parents when we set things up.
I don't short order cook for my kids, and so I wouldn't want to have a conversation with the kids about what they want. But at the same time, I think that going to a new house is enough "new", and I'd want something comforting and familiar for the visiting kid. So, I'd just ask the mom what their kid liked, offering a few ideas, and then serve that. Things I might offer, Turkey and cheese sandwich Grilled cheese sandwich cheese pizza hamburger/cheeseburger bagel and cream cheese Scrambled eggs and toast Pasta with meat sauce |

My kid is a super picky eater. I will not judge you if my kid chooses not to eat what he is served as a guest. Hopefully he is not rude and declines politely- and I hope you will tell me if he is not polite so we can work on it at home.
I serve things my kids eat + veggies. usually carrots, peppers, and cucumbers set out with dip or hummus. Fruit salad or apple slices. I put those out to graze on. Lunch is pizza, quesadilla, Mac and cheese, cheese and crackers, etc. |
|
I stick with popular kid favorites: grilled cheese, nuggets, frozen cheese pizza (all served with fruit, and milk or water). I ask the kids’ input on the options before lunch.
Also, you could just avoid having play date at mealtimes. |
| Nuggets and fires, grapes and carrots on the side. Never fails |
My kid is a very picky eater with some food issues so we have typically avoided meals or planned to eat some where that I know they like (chick fil a etc). I would probably have to pack a lunch if DC was eating at someone’s house, to be honest. DC eats lots of healthy food just in fairly specific ways. |
| OP- you couldn't think of anything between Kodiak cakes/greek yogurt/veggie pizza and fast food? |

Nanny here- I make a tapas type of deal for each kid, so they can pick and choose what they like. I make a plate that looks eye catching with little bits of chopped carrots, cucumbers, red peppers, hummus, cheese, turkey or chicken, plus hummus and ranch. I add a few cashews, raisins, dried mango, crackers, fresh apples, grapes, and strawberries. I then make a hummus sandwich and call it a day. It’s literally little bits of each thing on a plate. Whatever they don’t eat (shhhhh) gets recycled and arranged in a cute eye appealing way for their snack plate. I add some more fresh fruit plus whatever they actually ate for lunch on the snack plate and call it a day.
In the pantry and fridge I have a bin labelled ‘playdates’ and all the dried fruit/crackers and then fruit/veg/cheese etc is kept in those bins, so when we have a play date I grab the bins and just put things on plates. It seems time consuming but it’s not. Parents always rave about my play date spreads, but honestly it just makes my life easier serving little bits of this and that, so kids can choose what they want to eat. |
| Play date kids with ours age from 6-9 with 2 adults, we just ordered pizza and also offered bottled water, yogurt drink and Balanced breaks ( stored bought snacks each come with a separate container with little bit cheese/crackers/dried fruit and/or nuts). Everyone ate and enjoyed. |
You're not seriously reserving food that was out and touched by kids hours later. Please tell me you aren't actually doing something that germy. Otherwise putting things out sounds fine, but once something is actually on a plate, it doesn't get re-served. |
It’s European………….. |
Hours later? Have you heard of a fridge? Eat child has their own separate plate and yes I do save cucumbers and carrots to be re-used for snack. Maybe you’re okay with waste, but I’m not. Im not having them share food, so not sure what the problem is with serving them 2 hour old crackers? |
I think she's saying that the kids have their own spread and if they don't eat something on it, it reappears on the same kids plate later. I do that with my kids all the time. |

Everything on the side. So flatbread might be fine but veggies on the side. Simple stuff. Cut up raw carrots, apples. Grapes. Cheese optional.
Also ask their parents what they like. |
