They've got whole narratives constructed based on absolutely nothing. It's alternatively disgusting and hilarious. There was also a lot of hatred for Kate, though that has dimmed in recent years. Letizia of Spain was also routinely torn to bits but then all the scandals about Juan Carlos and Cristina started coming out and that narrative kind of collapsed.

I want to say I'm surprised about Victoria and Daniel and I kind of am, but the two situations I know in my own life of people who have married their personal trainers both ended in cheating and heartbreak. I just assume most marriages built on superficial stuff like that won't last.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm really surprised about that re Letizia. Like I knew some people didn't like her because she's the first Queen of true middle-class had a successful job background. But she ROCKS as a Queen. Doing so many appearances, always fashionable, constant advocacy and speeches, and never really put a foot wrong.

She also has got into it once or twice with her MIL in public.

I only remember once and that was because the MIL was yanking her daughter the future Queen around in public. She should have left with her husband in exile.

I feel so sorry for Victoria. She’s a gracious sister/daughter and lovely woman but her father has undermined her since she was a small child and now she has a potentially manipulative and emotionally abusive partner. I wanted happiness for her because of her father’s ridiculous behavior. I wish she was born in the Norwegian royal family. She would have had a better life. If they divorce I hope it’s when she’s Queen so she holds all the power.

Her MIL was really manhandling her daughter, who also tried to brush off her grandmother's attempt to pull her towards her in a restraining way.

Sweden changed their rules after the birth of the King’s son, Carl Phillip, that the first born becomes Monarch regardless of gender. Victoria was first born so she came the Heir Apparent at like 9 and her father was openly critical of it for years. He also openly favors their youngest daughter Madeleine because of her looks (blond hair and blue eyes). He also openly cheated on his wife and all the kids were aware of it. That almost always affects the daughters in a negative way.

Victoria is the oldest and extremely graceful but suffers from self esteem issues because of her father. She had a eating disorder as adult teen. Which leads us to her getting involved with her personal training who helped her overcome her ED through weight lifting.
