| Add JJill to the big list of shops with great plus size selection. |
| I’m not sure what the stores have in stock, but Neiman Marcus has lots of Plus size clothes in their catalogs and online. They carry a range of designers as well as their own label. Nordstrom and Nordstrom’s Rack would also be excellent options. |
Size 16-18 is usually where body shape and proportion start to differ significantly from straight sizes so that there needs to be a different cut. Size 12 and 14 are just a proportionally larger 10. 1X is a 14/16 that is cut in a plus size silhouette. That’s why 1X is different from XL. Lane Bryant carries 14s and 16, but they’re W sizes like 14W and fit different from a Banana or J Crew 14. Plus size is more about proportion and body shape than a number size. |
I literally couldn’t walk down the street today. Fought crowds in every store. Had to eat at chipotle because the lines were too long at every other restaurant. |
Nobody asked you. A-hole. |
OP here. Which shopping locations do you recommend? |
OP here. I welcome recommendations for stores that carry plus sizes in their stores (not just online). It feels like most stores just offer them online but not in the actual stores. |
I would not head to Georgetown to shop for plus sizes. Tysons probably has the most variety of stores in the metro area. |
True, but, some stores and some designers stop at size 10 — although since clothing sizes aren’t standardized, what “ size 10” actually means as a fit can vary widely. Also, I have occasionally seen size 0x — which is the W body shape proportions in a smaller size. |
