This and pizza and subs.

It's just an hour long party.

It’s only an hour. Cupcakes are fine.

OP. Thanks all. Regarding the time, I planned for it to be short in case it’s cold, but will stay longer if others want to keep playing. Probably going to go with cupcakes, water, coffee and cheese sticks or some other easy snack.

And I’m not worried about masking. These kids all already eat together every day during the week, so I don’t think they need to stay masked, especially outside.

You should have a snack. Fruit/veggie tray and/or bagged snacks like goldfish/skinny pop/veggie snacks/etc.

Juice box for the kids.

Please for the love make sure foods are individually packaged and use gloves for pizza or tongs. Last time I went to a pizza party half the group got norovirus. If you think about eating pizza people often grab the next slice to theirs to separate their slice and it puts whatever is on their hands directly on the pizza crust which you then handle and eat.

You should not attend parties. Or not eat at parties. This is way too paranoid.

Guessing that’s not where the norovirus came from. But sure, use a spatula and put a big jug of purell nearby.

Do you like people to touch your food with bare, likely unwashed hands before you eat it? Literally half the group was out with it, and it was from sharing food but sure, do go on.

Cupcakes for kids.

Those Starbucks traveler boxes and some cups/lids are always a hit with parents.

The better advice would be for OP to have a big jug of hand sanitizer on hand and have one person (with clean hands) plating pizza and another (with clean hands) passing it out.

Seems kinda cheap to not have actual food but whatever.

Not sure why parents on DCUM are so pressed about party food especially if it's during a snack time

The party is AN HOUR. Do you really need food for a party that is an hour and not during a meal time?!?

Totally agree with need to not go overboard with food! Cupcakes toward the end is perfect. Parents don't want to have to wash hands/sanitize multiple times during a party. And kids that age take a LONG time to eat -- a cupcake and juice box will take some kids 15 minutes. Maybe something like string cheese or go go squeeze applesauce available (i.e., something in a wrapper vs. goldfish-type snack that requires hand washing).

Fruit and veggie tray are a waste ... who wants to eat that when it's freezing outside? Love the idea of coffee or warm drink for parents. And my experience is that water bottles handy are always appreciated -- many parents and kids use them.
