| We’re planning a playground party for DS’s 3rd bday. It’s just an hour and not near meal time, so we were thinking it would just be an informal thing where the kids would play and we’d serve cupcakes. Should we be doing more? Like other snacks or coffee for parents or something? We considered doing a hot chocolate bar if it’s cold but hot chocolate + cupcakes feels like a lot of sugar. Am I overthinking this? This is the first real birthday party we’ve had. |
| I vote snacks for the parents. The kids will be happy with water to go with their cupcakes, and the parents will thank you too. |
| Parents won’t eat. 1 hour? How about waters, oranges and cupcakes. Maybe even bags of goldfish to balance out the sweet. |
| Mini water bottles, snack packs of goldfish and pirates booty, cupcakes. |
| I’d make a to go bag with a cupcake and water bottle. That way kids can remain masked and parents can decide if they want their kids to have sugar. |
| We did pizza, coffee, cupcakes, bottle water, and mandarin oranges |
|
I'd try to do something a little nicer than goldfish but obviously anything is fine.
I'd do like coffee and scones for parents and cupcakes and maybe honest juices or similar for kids. |
| For just an hour I’d do cupcakes and water. |
This plus coffee for adults. I love when people bring coffee |
I'm pro mask, but it's an outside playground. The kids don't need to be masked. OP, I would suggest the mini bottles of water, juice boxes, and a box of coffee if the weather is cold. Then have a couple of baskets of snacks just to be a good host. This could be something like Goldfish and/or something like fruit, cheese sticks, or drinkable yogurt. It's your kid's first birthday party-- do your cupcakes/other dessert during the party, sing happy birthday, etc. You can always serve a mini version of the cupcake/other dessert, too. |
| Chick fil a nugget tray. |
| Cupcakes and favors. That’s what I did last year. |
+1. Plan for kids to get thirsty and white water, plan for kids to feel snacky. Plan for adults not to eat, but to appreciate coffee (but still very much optional. ) Plan for adults to eat a kids snack if they are truly hungry. |
This and pizza and subs. |
Why are you masking your kid outside? |
