+1. Discovered it during the pandemic and never looked back.

The uniform consistency of the Daisy curds is really weird to me.

Good culture is my favorite brand. I haven't had issues with Breakstone but I generally buy the single serving size.

Same. I love Breakstones full fat in the big tubs (from Giant). I eat it every day. It’s been fine to me; though I do prefer it more liquidy. I don’t like good culture or Lucerne, never tried daisy.

Grew up with great cottage cheese in Iowa. Many years of tasting lots of the brands mentioned here, and being really disappointed. I got brave enough to try the Target brand (Good and Gather?) and enjoy it. Give it a try.

Yes! I’ve been blaming my local grocery store for improper refrigeration but now reading this post I see It’s not a local issue! It’s frustrating because Breakstone was always my preferred cottage cheese!

I buy the small curd in tubs or if that isn’t available I’ll get the single serve four packs. Sometimes it tastes spot on, and other times it’s like they forgot to salt it. Or it’s super runny, or it’s almost dry/gritty. I guess I’m also wondering if this is just how cottage cheese is, and other brands would be similarly inconsistent?

I hate Breakstones, so skipped eating cottage cheese for years until I tasted the Target house brand. Now I am having the same problem as you OP. I hope they don't just buy Breakstones and put it in a Target container. I'll feel like an idiot.

I didn’t realize anyone still ate cottage cheese. It seems very 1980s

Yes Breakstone is very inconsistent Too runny now I am happy to see it has reintroduced its lower sodium option. Maybe people who say it tastes like they forgot to salt it accidentally bought the low sodium variety. It is not obvious which is low sodium. It is only a small decal on the top of the carton. I need the low sodium so I am happy about that But I do wish it wasn't so runny.

I remember this thread - I tried Daisy and the Target brand after PPs suggested them, but went back to my 4 packs of Breakstone’s 4%. I eat 1 a day and love them!

Daisy is to die for.

Haha, it has more staying power than you know. High protein and highly adaptable. TikTok had a viral trend of making strawberry cheesecake ice cream with blended cottage cheese, strawberries, and crushed graham crackers.

Yes! I’ve been eating the Breakstone’s 2% small curd since the 1980s, and for decades it tasted exactly the same. But recently, it’s been really gross, almost like they put the curds through a blender. It definitely has a different texture and taste.

I’ve noticed inconsistent tastes also. Like 85 - 90% of the time it’s the best cottage cheese I’ve ever had. Then there’s these occasions that it seems like it was a bad batch like they forgot to salt it or something just like OP said.

Used to be the best years ago, but has declined as of 10-15 yrs ago,IMO.
I only buy Daisy now. That stuff is simple and so good. Very consistent.

Still love my Breakstones 4%. Every time I stray, I always come back to it.
