Swimming - really sick of nonfunctional video feeds

Please disclose the team then. No way I believe you offered to be at our meet - or any other meet - this weekend from 8 a.m. on Sat AND Sun to around 3:00 p.m. both days. I did see people suggest on the nonworking feed comment section something like, "Can't you get parents to sign up for volunteer spots to narrate?" That's not the kind of volunteering I mean.

A lot of that has to do with the facility. It’s a lot easier to have a good quiet feed at gmu with a big scoreboard, a place for the video away from swimmers etc, then say at all providence with no scoreboard and a camera in the stands with the swimmers

To a point, I guess. But my kids had two different meets hosted by two different teams at GMU in December. First meet had a parent volunteer reading the heat sheet to let spectators know what was happening and where we were in the meet. Second meet was just ambient sound and you tried to hear what was coming next. That second meet had a concurrent feed showing the scoreboard, but it went on the fritz and got out of synch with the swim feed-- trying to stream two feeds from the car without wifi isn't going to work well. And the volunteer signup was full before our team even saw it, so don't bother just telling me to volunteer.

It doesn't take much to ask for a parent volunteer to read the meet sheet and try to relay some times.

that parent was awesome too! she was funny and kept everyone updated on what was happening.

Teams that have announcers for the streams (and most do) put it on the sign up genius like timers or marshalls. The camera is already running, you add a parent reading the heat sheet. That's all. No one needs to volunteer for all days all sessions for that. My kids didn't swim this past weekend, so I'm not sure which meet you're taking about.

Our league has a real problem with the same parents getting early access to Sign Up Genius and filling all the volunteer slots. It's always the same people.

There's not much that parents can do to change this, if we can't volunteer and can't be physically present in the facility.

My kid swam at the NCAP winter qualifier. Very impressed with the live feed. Really liked how they identified each swimmer right before they swam and the results as each swimmer came in with their time. It was like watching the olympics. I am sure it was a lot of work, but appreciated it.

+1. My DD competed at a high school meet hosted by Stone Ridge. Stone Ridge had the name of each swimmer in the lane, just like at the Olympics! It was really cool.

Why are you do worked up about times. Can't you just ask you kid when they are done or look it up later. It's just not that big of a deal that you need real time intell. Are you betting the meets or something? Who cares what the times are...it's in the past and unchangeable. I have a swimmer and take a passing interest in times. Not going to stress about it and fuss about livestreams.
