APS maskless day

This is great information, quite a few people willing to follow the science and not force their children to wear worthless cloth masks. Wish this survey would hit ARLnow.

So I want to continue masking, but even if I didn't I would never use my child as a political pawn. Very bad parenting on your part. Antisocial behavior.

Just give it time people. We need to be patient with our brethren on the left. The lemmings are coming around and each day their blue check-mark leaders are starting to bend the narrative toward the truth. The truth about masks being useless, the source of the virus being a US funded lab in China, that healthy children have no need to be vaccinated for Covid 19, and even today Hopkins says that lockdown policies were ineffective. (https://www.foxnews.com/media/johns-hopkins-university-study-lockdowns-media-blackout) It will all come out in time and, when it comes down to it, the source of all of this push back is that our friends and neighbors, who are just uninformed good people, are worried they did the wrong thing by vaccinating their children with an experimental drug, and they are praying, like we all are, that it wasn't a mistake. Give them time.

Sorry, honey, an Arlington County judge has granted the school districts a Temporary Restraining Order against Youngkin's mask EO.

I don't know why that other discussion was locked, but I agree with the OP who said that masking, distancing, staying away from other people mattered in the beginning, but don't now that most people are vaccinated / boosted and the variant is much less deadly. I really do not understand people. This is not a political issue.

We'll be getting COVID boosters for the rest of our lives, but it's time to take the masks off. And let students go to high school basketball games. Oh, wait, that restriction was also based on behavior problems caused by either being isolated for so long or listening to all the "adults" around them siloing themselves with like-minded people and cancelling any one who doesn't agree with them instead of engaging in productive dialogue and altering their thinking to match new data.

I really don't understand people.

I want masks off in the near future, but no way am I using my young elementary kids as pawns in this. Not to mention, they’ll just be sent home so then what … ? Yay they can be unmasked at home, but not getting any education or interaction with peers? It would just trade one negative (the theater of cloth masks for low risk kids for an even greater negative).

At this point I’m just waiting for the state legislature to act because I don’t think the EO was the right mechanism for ending the mandates.

Now that Omicron is passing, midterm elections are approaching, and we’re about to see the local Catholic schools successfully unmask, this will eventually go away. I hope by March or April, but maybe that is too optimistic. Until then my kids will continue to wear the thinnest layer of fabric I can get away with so they can be comfortable at school yet meet the mask requirement. (Oh and yes they’re fully vaxxed, I believe in science).

Why in the world you put your kids in that position?
