Thank you. Just thought this was weird reqy. OP |
It's also a fairness thing: Why should just the EA kids get another chance to make their pitch? |
+ another 1 |
Agree with all of this, but from someone who applied RD? |
RD applicants pretty much would be considered non-leans to be attending Michigan. So a LOCI wouldn’t really be necessary. |
| Basically, if you see this as a burden and either skip it or dog it, you hurt your chances of admission. If you see it as an opportunity, you can help your chances. It's not complicated. |
If I'm too lazy to read the application the first time and want a kid to write another 250 words that will say what every other kid will say, then maybe i should find another job. |
Agree RD deadline just closed. Nothing new to report. Our DC wrote something but will hold on to sending it. Hopefully UVA (in state) comes before Feb 15rh. |
| So. Many. Whiners. On this thread. Michigan isn't for you. Try Bama. |
+1 I actually find this abhorrent. The kid works hard on the application, provides everything that is needed, and then school is like Waahhh, this is hard! So much to go through!! Ok, guys, now if you REALLY want to come, PAYING THE APPLICATION FEE and us telling you what hoops to jump through, we decided to add another-- please submit another assignment* *KNOWING that some students simply may not have the bandwidth for this. You talk about privilege--it's the most privileged who will be able to complete this step. |
| Would be different if Michigan said they'd refund application fee if kids pull their applications at this point. |
That's actually a really interesting idea. Could be one of three options: do nothing, submit a LOCI, pull your app and get a refund. |
Great idea. I personally would prefer this. - Parent of a postponed DC, who needs to complete that LOCI. |
The odds of that ever happening are about zilch. |
Have you ever applied for a good job? Welcome to the real world. |
